What is needed to get an appointment at The Pain Management Center? All patients must have a doctor to doctor referral. Maine care patients that are managed care must have a Maine Care referral from their primary care provider. All patients are required to have their co-pay/payment at the time of their appointment. —•— What happens when you come to the first appointment? Your first appointment consists of a one hour interview, a brief physical exam, and a diagnosis and treatment plan. —•— Will my insurance pay for this treatment? Most insurance companies do pay for these services, including traditional health insurance, managed care plans, and worker’s compensation. Some plans require prior authorization. Our billing department can assist you with this. —•— Do we take Maine Care patients? Yes. Some may need a Maine Care referral from your primary care provider. When a referral is made please talk with your primary care provider about whether or not this applies to you. —•— Do we take patients that do not have insurance? Yes - Payment is always due at the time of the service. We ask that you speak with our billing department the day you are scheduled for you appointment. —•— I have been told that The Pain Management Center will be taking over my medication when I come to the Pain Center. This is not necessarily true. As part of your treatment plan we may provide your prescription medications, but there is no guarantee that The Pain Management Center will prescribe to you. We only prescribe medications related to your chronic pain. —•— Will my doctor know of my visit with you? A report of your initial evaluation and subsequent visits will be faxed to your primary care provider. —•— What is involved in the therapy? - Safe and effective injections maybe recommended.
- Referrals may be made for physical and psychological therapy.
- Recommendations on prescriptions may be made for medications.
