When You Visit the Pain Management Center Your procedure will be scheduled by our registered nurse after your consultation with the pain specialist. You will receive printed instructions for your procedure, and it is very important that you follow them carefully. You will not be permitted to drive yourself home after the procedure, so please make transportation arrangements in advance. Following registration, you'll be greeted by a nurse and escorted to the preparation area. Your medical history will be reviewed, and preparations for your procedure will be made. It will take approximately 15-20 minutes to perform and will be done under local anesthesia. The length of stay depends on the procedure, but the minimum is a half hour. You’ll receive additional instructions before you are discharged. Remember you must make arrangements to have someone take you home. Treatment Rooms To protect your privacy and that of other patients, we request that no family members accompany you to the treatment room. Family members will be asked to remain in the waiting room. Registration is required for each patient. You will be registered in the treatment area, and you will be asked to sign a “consent for treatment.” Signature of a parent or guardian is required for all minors. Cellular phones are not allowed because they may interrupt our monitoring devices. Cellular phones may be used in the main waiting room or outdoors. After you are in the treatment area, you will be seen by a physician, who will determine your course of treatment. Discharge After you have received treatment, you will be given written instructions about your care at home. It is important that you understand and follow these instructions. Please ask questions if you do not understand or need clarification. You are responsible for your care after discharge. Remember to take medications as prescribed and make follow‐up appointments as directed in your discharge instructions. We wish you good health!
